What Peachtree Fiduciary Does — and What It Does Not

Peachtree Fiduciary & Guardianship Services manages and budgets existing income and benefits on behalf of clients who can no longer manage their own financial affairs. This includes veterans receiving VA benefits or pensions, Social Security and SSI recipients, individuals who need income management and budgeting assistance, and individuals with no suitable family member to serve as guardian or conservator.

What Peachtree Fiduciary does not do: benefits claims representation, VA appeals, or Social Security appeals. Those services are discontinued firm-wide. If a family member contacts us about filing a new VA claim or appealing a Social Security denial, we will let you know that is outside our scope. What we do handle — managing existing benefits, serving as appointed fiduciary, and protecting the financial welfare of people who need ongoing support — we do professionally, under federal and court supervision, with full accountability.

The VA fiduciary appointment is a federal-level credential. It requires a background investigation, demonstrated financial management competence, and ongoing accountability to the VA for every financial decision made on a veteran's behalf. It is not a membership or a certification — it is a federal appointment with federal oversight.

Who Peachtree Fiduciary Serves

Peachtree Fiduciary & Guardianship Services serves three distinct audiences.

Veterans and their families

Veterans and their families — veterans receiving VA benefits or pensions who can no longer manage their own finances receive professional fiduciary management through our VA-appointed fiduciary program. We work directly with the Department of Veterans Affairs and manage benefit payments, budgeting, and financial reporting on the veteran's behalf under VA oversight.

Social Security and SSI recipients

Social Security and SSI recipients — individuals receiving Social Security or SSI benefits who need a representative payee receive professional payee services through our SSA representative payee program. We manage incoming benefit payments, ensure funds are used for the recipient's needs, and file annual reports with the Social Security Administration.

Individuals who need a professional guardian or conservator

Individuals who need a professional guardian or conservator — when a family member has been determined to need a guardian or conservator and no suitable family member is available, willing, or able to serve, Peachtree Fiduciary steps in. The ward receives court-supervised protection from a professional who answers to the Probate Court — not just to the family.

For Referring Professionals

Social workers, VA case managers, SSA representatives, hospital discharge planners, elder law attorneys, and care coordinators who need to refer a client to a professional fiduciary in Georgia or Florida can contact Peachtree Fiduciary & Guardianship Services directly.

We have established working relationships with the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Referrals are handled with the documentation and process rigor both agencies require. Elizabeth Williams Winfield's appointment history in Fayette County and Clayton County Probate Court is verifiable public record.

Confirmed Services

Professional Fiduciary for the Department of Veterans Affairs

As a VA-appointed fiduciary, Elizabeth Williams Winfield receives and manages VA benefit payments on behalf of veterans who have been determined by the VA to be unable to manage those payments themselves due to injury, illness, or incapacity. The VA conducts field examinations, reviews annual accountings, and maintains oversight of every financial decision made on the veteran's behalf.

This service is for veterans whose VA benefits are already established and who need professional management of those benefits. It is not for veterans seeking to file or appeal VA claims — that service is not offered by this firm.

Professional Representative Payee for the Social Security Administration

As an SSA-approved representative payee, Peachtree Fiduciary receives Social Security and SSI benefit payments on behalf of recipients who cannot manage their own finances. We manage incoming payments, budget for the recipient's needs, and file annual reports with the Social Security Administration documenting how funds were used.

This service is for individuals whose Social Security or SSI benefits are already established and who need professional management of those payments. Social Security appeals and disability claims representation are not services offered by this firm.

Professional Trustee and Conservator

Peachtree Fiduciary provides professional trustee services for individuals whose assets are held in trust and who need an independent, accountable trustee to manage those assets. We also provide professional conservator services for individuals whose financial affairs require court-supervised management by an appointed conservator.

Both services are subject to ongoing court oversight and annual reporting obligations.

Common Questions About Professional Fiduciary Services in Georgia

  • What is a professional guardian in Georgia?

A professional guardian is an individual appointed by the Probate Court to serve as guardian for a person who can no longer make personal decisions independently and who has no suitable family member to serve. The professional guardian makes medical, residential, and personal care decisions on the ward's behalf and files annual reports with the court. Elizabeth Williams Winfield serves as professional guardian for Fayette County residents under court appointment.

  • Who is the county guardian for Fayette County, Georgia?

Elizabeth Williams Winfield is the court-appointed County Guardian for Fayette County, Georgia, appointed by the Fayette County Probate Court.

  • What is a VA fiduciary and how does the appointment work?

A VA fiduciary is an individual or organization appointed by the Department of Veterans Affairs to manage benefit payments on behalf of a veteran who has been determined unable to manage their own finances. The VA conducts a field examination, reviews the proposed fiduciary's qualifications and background, and makes the appointment. Once appointed, the fiduciary manages the veteran's benefit payments, budgets for their needs, and files annual accountings with the VA. Elizabeth Williams Winfield holds this appointment for veterans across the Southeast.

  • What is a representative payee for Social Security?

A representative payee is an individual or organization approved by the Social Security Administration to receive and manage Social Security or SSI benefit payments on behalf of a recipient who cannot manage their own finances. The representative payee manages incoming payments, uses them for the recipient's needs, and files annual reports with the SSA. Peachtree Fiduciary & Guardianship Services serves in this role for eligible recipients.

  • Does Peachtree Fiduciary handle VA claims or Social Security appeals?

No. Peachtree Fiduciary manages existing VA benefits and Social Security payments on behalf of appointed clients — it does not handle new VA claims, VA appeals, Social Security disability applications, or Social Security appeals. Those services are discontinued firm-wide. If you need assistance with a new claim or appeal, we can point you toward appropriate resources.

  • How does a family arrange professional guardian services through Peachtree Fiduciary?

Call our direct line at (888) 253-6148 to discuss your family member's situation. If a guardianship proceeding is needed, our attorneys can file the petition and seek appointment of a professional guardian through the Probate Court. If the court has already determined guardianship is needed and is seeking a professional to serve, we can work directly with the court.

  • Is professional fiduciary elder law attorney service available near Fayetteville, GA?

Yes. Peachtree Fiduciary & Guardianship Services is based out of the firm's Fayetteville, Georgia office. Elizabeth Williams Winfield is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the National Guardianship Association and files regularly in Fayette County Probate Court.
